“How can I make my favorite thing my entire life?”

I didn’t actually ask myself this question, but I might as well have. I’ve been a book lover my entire life, and honestly always tried to pick the most spooky books I could find even in the elementary school library. After spending many years raising my own kids, teaching and running around town, I’ve come full circle. Most of my kids are grown, the last one is in high school. I’m now working at a local library and reading as many books as I can get my hands on. Why not just take it one step further and open a bookshop in my spare time?

I spend a rather ridiculous amount of time around books, reading about books, watching what’s new and writing my own reviews. By starting my own bookshop I can put my expertise to good use. I have carefully selected the titles I offer in the Black Orchid. Space is limited after all. I’m extremely picky when it comes to used books, so you know whatever type of book you buy from us, it’s going to be a good one.

One of my favorite things to do is talk about the books so please don’t be shy. If you’re not sure what to read next, I’d love to help! And if you don’t see a title you’re looking for, just ask. I can order almost any title straight from the publishers and I’m almost as good at hunting down the used copies.
